Here is what CSMs actually earn. Base salary and total compensation, broken down by company size. Community numbers where enough people have shared them, industry benchmarks everywhere else.
Base salary in USD. A tier shows community data once 5 people in that tier have contributed. Until then you see an industry estimate.
| Company size | Base salary | Range | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Startup (1-50) | $79k Estimated midpoint | $62k to $106k | Industry estimate |
| SMB (51-200) | $90k Estimated midpoint | $70k to $120k | Industry estimate |
| Mid-market (201-1000) | $96k Estimated midpoint | $75k to $128k | Industry estimate |
| Enterprise (1000+) | $106k Estimated midpoint | $83k to $142k | Industry estimate |
Estimated tiers are derived from the US CSM industry benchmark, adjusted for company size. Ranges compiled from publicly available data on Glassdoor, Levels.fyi, Payscale, and Reed.co.uk as of early 2026. These are approximate ranges, not exact figures.
Every submission moves a tier closer to community data. It takes under a minute and stays anonymous.
Share Your SalaryBase ranges stated in live mid-level CS job postings. Employer stated, US roles, updated daily. Base and OTE are shown separately. This is a different dataset from the community numbers above. It is what companies write in the posting, not what people report earning.
| Company size | Advertised band | Median | Sample |
|---|---|---|---|
| All company sizes | $111k to $150k | $134k | n=26 |
| Mid-market (201-1000) | $110k to $149k | $130k | n=18 |
| Enterprise (1000+) | $200k to $265k | $233k | n=8 |
Each figure carries its sample size. A bucket appears only once at least 5 live postings in that group state a band. Amounts are USD. EUR, GBP, and CAD postings are converted at a fixed snapshot rate.

These ranges are broad estimates. Community-reported data gives you exact percentiles by role, location, and company size.
Share Your SalaryEnterprise CSMs manage larger accounts and carry more revenue. That work pays more. A CSM at a 2,000-person SaaS company earns well above a CSM at a 40-person startup. The gap is often 20 to 30 percent for the same title.
Base salary is your guaranteed cash. OTE adds the variable bonus you earn by hitting retention and expansion goals. Most CSM roles split 75/25 or 80/20 between base and variable. Read the split before you compare two offers.
US roles pay the most in absolute terms. UK and EU roles run lower in USD. Remote roles at US companies often pay US rates anyway. Ask where the band is set, not just where the company is based.
Generic salary sites blend CS pay with every other tech role. That skews the number. I run a CS-only job board, so the data here comes from people doing the job. The more CSMs share, the sharper the benchmark gets.
